Mongol Gan Complex 1 Project

In April 2014, QMC LLC initiated the "Mongol Gan Complex 1" project to establish a mining and metallurgical complex in Darkhan-Uul province. The project is located within the premises of Darkhan Metallurgical Plant JSC and is designed to produce 350,000 tons of steel rolled products annually. The feasibility study for the project was developed in compliance with the "Basic Requirements and Acceptance Procedure for Feasibility Studies in the Heavy Industry Sector", as approved by the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry.

In 2016, a comparative study was conducted at the Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) level to select an appropriate steelmaking technology based on the iron ore reserves in the Darkhan-Selenge region. The study recommended that small blast furnace technology and direct reduced iron (DRI) production technology were the most suitable for Mongolia.

Following this, in 2020, QMC company prepared the technical assignment for a feasibility study on a steel complex utilizing small blast furnace technology. This study was carried out in collaboration with MCC-CERI of China.
